LRT ,bus and tram all in one.

May i ask Mr.LRT a simple a question? Have you ever been to the countries with LRT system? Seems like you don't really know that buses and LRT compliment each other? Or i misread your article? Sorry if i did.

The car parks part, for those who live far away from the station? Are you expecting LRT to be just beside our house? How about those from KB or Tutong, where should they park their cars?! or they shouldn't use LRT??

Regarding congestion, There's a special lane on road for Bus drivers only, i've seen it in M'sia and Australia. I don't see the link of extra congestion by having more buses on the road. And if the aim of LRT is to reduce the consumption of fuel, meaning less cars will be on the road, they will be replaced by buses, so what's the problem here? And i mentioned early, sugar or ethanol buses can help reduce the amt of fuel used too. GO GREEN!

btw, i read ur comments on previous article before. Why post it up again without any extra useful information?

Buses vs LRT

I read with so much joyousness that the crowd that matters are discussing traffic. I quite like the idea of boats also but my cousin gets seasick so doesn't like them even a little bit. And buses should be brightly coloured like yellows and green to blend into our environment of culture and sensitive awareness. I like tuk tuks like in India as well which are vibrant and a joy to be in. Phillipines electric Jimpies are very cool also and eco friendly. Lots of Philipine drivers know them so easy employment opportunities la.

Support LRT!

Sorry Mr. LRT. Please provide statistics before stating that cost of LRT is lower. Although i agree with you that installing an LRT system is a good idea, i have to point out some mistakes you have made. The main problem with our community is our over-reliance on cars (There's this issue of us needing cars because of the way we have built this city but lets avoid 're-building'). This is the problem which we have to address. Petroleum is not renewable. The population will keep on increasing, # of cars will keep on increasing.

Brunei's weather is hot and humid all year round. It discourages walking, cycling, etc. Well basically it affects which mode of transportation we choose daily unlike other countries in Europe / America.

There's also an issue of sprawling that the country is also addressing. Setting up LRT and improving bus system actually stalls sprawling by condensing the city.

I agree cost is definitely an issue but we have to see the bigger picture. The future will not be cheap if we stay the way it is.

Slower bus? I have to disagree again. I believe you are making another assumption. (unless there is quantitative data, please don't assume).

And about the car parks. I think having more car park is a good idea, provided there's enough land for car parks. I read a research paper and it had statistically shown that most roads are congested because most people are always looking for places to park. This gets a little tricky. If they waive any parking fee, people will definitely be upset when they decide to charge $ in the future. If there's some other 'free' parking areas, those areas will be typically congested (again leadin back to congestion) because they will be in demand.

Creating more lanes may seem like an excellent idea but urban planners think otherwise. The road is a failed 'market': always in demand, underpriced, overused and generates no profit. It is very tricky and every country has the same problem. How do we get people to use public transportation when we have affordable cars? If we start charging people for using road, that will probably solve the problem of traffic congestion, but lets face it: who wants to be charged for using road?

Assalamualaikum,

I think it would definitely be an investment if the light rail train routes connect the 4 districts.

Because the lush, rich jungle of Temburong is a major attraction for tourists into the country, it should have better accessibility! The LRT would also encourage tourists (and residences), who want to just have a quick look around the jungle (for maybe just the afternoon), to want to travel all the way down to Temburong, because, it wouldn't be such a hassle.

More residences in Brunei could consider setting up their homes in districts away from their work! People living in Belait won't have to take 2 hours to and another 2 hours back from Bandar for work.

It would be a plus if the LRTs and stations could be as clean and tidy as the ones in Singapore! I think all of Brunei people would welcome strict rules on cleanliness! And another plus if there are more bus stops (perhaps every 10 to 15 mins walk from each other) that could bring people from and to the LRT stations! Bus stops should also have the schedules for the buses, and the routes each bus number follows! Singapore's transport system is one that we could study and take note of.

Hello

you can contact Brunei Tourism Board at the Ministry of Primary Industries for further details.

As far as we know, Brunei Tourism Board will build an extension building/ infrastructure next to the existing gallery (2nd Phase). The newly constructed building extension will accommodate a multi-purpose hall for events and ceremonies for Kg Ayer and visitors.

The building also will have a shopping arcade/area to accommodate the needs of the Kg Ayer residents and people who are living in the area.

Many thanks
